Download Data

Download UA SWANN snow water equivalent (SWE) data to explore how much water is stored in the snowpack and how conditions vary across the landscape and over time. The gridded datasets provide SWE estimates for individual map cells, while the per-watershed downloads give SWE and precipitation summaries for each watershed.

UA SWANN snow water equivalent grids

Click download links at the bottom of the page to download 4 km UA SWANN data at NSIDC and 4 km and 800 m UA SWANN data at the University of Arizona. The NSIDC archive contains historical UA SWANN data in NetCDF grids, where the files are organized by water year. Near Real Time and Historical UA SWANN data can also be downloaded directly from the University of Arizona. In this archive, the data are organized into daily NetCDF files.

Per-watershed timeseries

Click Download in a watershed popup on the SnowView map to save a CSV file containing timeseries of snow water equivalent (SWE) from UA SWANN and cumulative water year precipitation from PRISM. The file includes summaries for the entire watershed and for 500-foot elevation bands, allowing you to compare basin-wide conditions with conditions at different elevations. Precipitation accumulates from the start of each water year on October 1.
